It’s a bizarre escalation and raises the unedifying possibility of North and South Korea waging a proxy war in eastern Ukraine.  Who had that on their 2024 predictions?

It does suggest to me that Russia’s recruitment crisis is getting dire.  I know there’s an assumption that Russia can simply indefinitely pour troops into any war but Russia isn’t the USSR, and this isn’t the 1940s - people talk on social media and the casualties are more visible to the general Russian population.

According to russian telegram leaks, NK troops are to be deployed in the Kursk operation and later as a northern counter-incursion force, not leaving Russian territory, wearing Russian uniforms and under the guise of volunteer units, just as many Western volunteers that are now fighting for Ukraine. This would create a lot of plausible deniability layers, so the Western response would most likely be weak.

Putin's thinking goes like this:  It's like cash flow, but with people. He just needs to focus on maintaining a certain level of troops in the field until Ukraine is exhausted and their front falters.

So he's keeps throwing "garbage" troops in the fight to keep his numbers up, and if he keeps his focus on that, he'll eventually win. Next he'll be recruiting from every poor country around the world. Look for "volunteers" from Myanmar and Africa next. 

I can't say that this will actually work, but Ukraine, too, hasn't had the strength to push the Russians back, despite killing vast numbers of them.

After years of sanctions North Korea is willing to trade soldiers and weapons with Russia in return for technology, fuel, and food aid. None of this screams "lets team up and be the best army in the world". This is two desperate governments doing what they can to keep their failing regimes alive.

Russia is just looking for more cannon fodder so they don’t have to announce another unpopular mobilization. In return, NK is getting help with ICBM tech.  The south is one of the words largest producers of high end military equipment.  If the north attempts an invasion, they troops will be decimated before they set foot on South Korean land.  Russia can’t even take more than a few square kilometers in the last year because their domestic arms production is hindered by sanctions which is why they go to NK.  Putin is playing Kim and will leave him out to dry when push comes to shove.

Also we were trailblazers when it comes to lifting self-imposed nato bans, like not sending tanks. Just remind yourself  how Poland was pushing Germany to send Leopards while also sending our Leos to Ukraine.

We gave hell a lot of equipment. Especially at the start of the war when Germany was sending helmets and most of the west was sitting idle.  Plenty of that equipment was taken from our active formations. We are currently outgunned are we have to be sure that we are safe in the first place before we spare more equipment to Ukraine. Also Ukrainian diplomacy does everything in its power to loose support from the normal polish citizen. I personally was packing humanitarian aid for the Ukrainians.

I still support helping Ukraine but the way that we were treated by Zelenski is just unjustifiable and poles consider Ukrainian government to be absolutely, over the top - unthankful. For a two years especially, I was actively protecting Ukraine when some people were saying that we were sparing too much. After Zelenski said in UN that Poland is ally to Russia, I thought we are done. And plenty of poles think that as well.

And just to add insult to injury we were excluded from the latest Ukrainian war plan gathering where US, France,Germany and UK were in, but the biggest nato eastern flank contributor was out. This was just a cherry on top.

Ukraine's request for S.Korean weapons is a bit off, although i understand their desperation and need for more weapon systems and should it be done so in other means possible.

It is simply absurd to ask for brand new weapons which needs Korean government's approval before Poland, and those new systems still haven't been fielded in enough quantity yet in Poland. Military aids to Ukraine are either retired systems allies no longer operate(like M2A2 in the U.S army depots and F-16A MLU from Denmark), or surplus that do not really affect national security of the doner.
